"Choosing Good Stock Investments." Make-Money-Stock-Value-Investing.Com. 19 Oct. 2007

URL:  http://www.make-money-stock-value-investing.com/good-stock-investments.html

This website contains a lot of information regarding all aspects of investing in stocks. The page referenced offers a viewpoint about what types of company stocks to avoid and how to narrow down the list of good choices. The author recommends choosing companies with large financial histories and a competitive advantage. This page is good because it explains in detail the list of things to avoid in a company and why. A possible weakness is that it only discusses the author’s opinion and not much about different methods of making investment decisions.

"Choosing Stocks From a Consumer Perspective." Benson, Bob. CollegeStock.Com. 19 Oct. 2007

URL: http://www.collegestock.com/articles/Choosing-Stocks-from-a-Consumer-Perspective.html

This website offers some simple steps to determine a company’s worth when making a decision to invest or not. The author believes that as consumers we should use our intuition about a company’s future by looking at the quality of products produced or trusting the perceived value of a product name. This is a good point of view because it stresses the opinion that it is not always all about reports and charts but it should also be about our trust in a company or brand. A weakness of this view is that sometimes it is easier to trust our money to factual numbers and professional market watchers.

“Five Star Stocks a Top-Down Approach Would Miss.” Kon, Michael. Morningstar.Com. 19 July 2006. 20 Oct 2007

URL: http://ibd.morningstar.com/article/article.asp?CN=aol828&id=168440

This article talks about good stock choices you might miss if you were looking at them from an economic standpoint. A top-down approach is when you start your search by looking at the economy and narrowing your decision based on what regions have a good GDP and then looking at what industries are good in different economic situations. The author also points out a few specific companies that would not pass this economic test but might still be good options. This page is good because it shows the process of choosing a stock from an economic standpoint. A possible weakness is that the author does not support this method so it really only points out the negatives of using this process.
